Department Responsibilities

The Killingly Highway Division is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and construction of 130 miles of Town of Killingly roads and 2000 drainage structures. The Highway Division also maintains in operating condition of 40 working vehicles and all support equipment in our department and in the Parks and Recreation Department.

The Highway Division functions include: yearly road renewal programs (rebuilding, overlaying, and chip sealing of roads), drainage (new construction and cleaning of existing drainage), roadside mowing, painting of crosswalks and stop bars, parking lot striping, road sweeping, fall leaf pick up, litter pick up, winter snow and ice control on Killingly roads.

The Department of Public Works is a team effort between the Engineering Office and the Highway Division. The main focus is the maintenance and improvement of Public infrastructure including roads, bridges, parks, buildings, solid waste facilities, vehicles and other municipal equipment.

The Department works closely with State Agencies and Town Offices to comply with current standards and improve services for the Town of Killingly. It is our goal to be courteous, respectful and provide a level of service Killingly residents can be proud of.
