Stormwater Management
Town of Killingly Stormwater Management
The Town of Killingly maintains over 2000 catch basins, drainage piping, culverts, drainage swales, retention/detention ponds, and discharge points as a part of the Town's drainage systems. Killingly is required to report on its drainage systems and permitting annually.
Stormwater Management Plan
The General Permit for the Discharge of Stormwater from Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4 General Permit) requires each municipality to take steps to keep stormwater clean before entering bodies of water. One important element of the permit is for municipalities to prepare a Stormwater Management Plan to evaluate their drainage systems and to reduce pollutants from stormwater runoff. It also requires the municipalities to implement public outreach and educational programs to help make residents aware of how everyday activities can produce pollutants, and to inform them of steps to take to reduce pollutants in stormwater runoff. Below is a link to Stormwater Management as defined by the CT DEEP.
The Town of Killingly Stormwater Plan is available for public review at the Killingly Town Hall in both the Engineering Department and the Planning & Zoning Office. It is also available at the Town of Killingly Public Library. An electronic copy is available for viewing in the link below.
